Behavioral Assistance through Support in Education (B.A.S.E.)

B.A.S.E. teams works collaboratively with school staff to provide quality services for students with behavioral needs. The goals are to improve behavior for the students, decrease the need for more restrictive settings, and to decrease suspension and office referrals. Student must have an IEP to be in the program and an IEP meeting must be conducted to provide this possible service.

How will this align with Common Core?

B.A.S.E. program aligns to the NMCCS by preparing students for college and/or career readiness by:

  • Responding to the varying demands of audience, task, purpose, and disciplin
  • Adapting communication in relation to audience, task, purpose, and discipline.
  • Understanding other perspectives and cultures
  • Listening to and communicating effectively with people of varied backgrounds.
  • Positive behavior support strategies allow students to engage in more positive interactions and increases instructional time.
